Overview & Policies

The form for registration for Religious Education in the 2023-2024 school year is now available on our website and via email.

Our program is for all children between grades 1 through 8. We will accept students in 9 and 10 grades at our discretion depending on the available number of catechists.

For the year 2023-2024, our classes will continue in person using HNM school grounds. We will comply with all health regulations in Nassau County and the guidelines according to the Diocese of Rockville Centre. This may involve limited class size, infrared temperature taking, monitoring of hall traffic to maintain safe distances between children and adults and routines of hand washing.

Religious Education prepares children and youth to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. It also instructs children and youth in the church’s teachings according to the Catholic faith and morals based on a curriculum provided by the Diocese of Rockville Center and the Church Magisterium. Our resources include approved textbooks and websites, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Holy Bible, the stories of the Life of the Saints, Church documents, and Cannon Law.

Volunteer teams work with children and youth in all of our programs. All volunteers undergo training and background checks in order to participate in ministry for the welfare and protection of our students.

Parents /Guardians will need to support our program by:

  • Bringing them to weekly Sunday Mass.
  • Making sure they attend classes.
  • Assisting them in completing homework and projects in a timely manner.
  • Making sure they learn the prayers according to their grade level.
